The CGA specialises in the application of geographical information systems (GIS), satellite remote sensing and other geographical-analytical techniques to carry out research, training and service provision functions in this field.
Duties
The role is primarily a support position within the CGA team, with a focus on web application development and maintenance. The CGA implements interactive geographically enabled web applications using HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Django is used for back-end development, and tabular data is stored in PostgreSQL databases. The candidate will be expected to assist in refining existing web applications and in creating new ones. Front- and back-end development will be required.
Job Requirements
- Two years completed towards a B degree which includes web and/or software development;
- Proven experience in web and/or software development;
- Competent in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Python (Django), Git.
Recommendation
Training or experience in GIS scripting, basic remote sensing, OpenLayers, ArcGIS API for Javascript, ArcGIS Online, report-writing. In addition, the candidate should be able to work well in a team, balance multiple projects, manage deadlines, and monitor, evaluate and adjust their work progress.
