The 0.5 FTE Senior Teaching Associate in English Literature and Community Engagement (maternity cover) will teach on the innovative part-time BA in English Literature and Community Engagement (ELCE) and associated taster courses in the School of Humanities. The starting date for the post is as soon as possible after the selection process.

You will have been awarded, or will be close to completion of a PhD in a relevant field and will have strong experience as a teacher and some knowledge of administration of teaching in higher education, desirably you will have experience or potential to work with mature learners without conventional prior qualifications.

As part of the Senior Teaching Associate in English Literature and Community Engagement role, you will contribute to and develop teaching on the ELCE programme and will also have particular responsibility for coordinating the short taster courses that are offered to recruit potential new adult learners in English Literature. This post seeks to strengthen the commitment to widening participation and diversity on this programme and more broadly. 

 

The appointment start date is as soon as possible after recruitment, with a fixed contract running until 19 April 2019.

Timescale of appointment:

Short-listed candidates will be notified on or about Friday, 18 May 2018 and invited to interview.

 

Anticipated interview date:

Friday 8 June 2018.

 

Please note: The successful applicant will be required to convene a ten-week introductory unit on Poetry at first-year UG level.  Applicants invited to interview will be required to submit an outline for such a course, giving details of reading for each week, and a lesson plan for one 3-hour session. These are to be submitted as soon as possible after invitation to interview, but no later than Friday 1 June to hums-academicsupport@bristol.ac.uk.
