Job Details
ECU (formerly the Claremont Teachers’ College) has been at the forefront of teacher education for over 100 years. The University is home to the largest School of Education in WA and to the Edith Cowan Institute for Education Research. The School offers up-to-date and progressive courses with a hands-on focus, aimed at preparing students for the profession and promoting teachers’ continued development. Some of the School’s key research priorities include early childhood, digital futures, assessment and evaluation, leadership, professional learning, Aboriginal education, and curriculum and pedagogy.
ECU’s School of Education is now seeking to appoint a new Executive Dean. A member of the Executive Committee of the University and reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the appointee will shape not only the ongoing development of the School, but also contribute to the wider strategic direction of ECU. The appointed individual will therefore bring significant leadership experience, marked by an inspiring, energetic, inclusive, and highly effective management style. An accomplished scholar and educator in their own right, they will not only be familiar with the requirements set by accreditation and compliance bodies, but also a champion of world-class research and innovation in education. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to set and deliver a transformational agenda in a similar context, along with an understanding of and commitment to the distinctive values of Edith Cowan University.
