The Human Genetics and Genomic Medicine research team within the Faculty of Medicine, invites applications for a tenure position as a Lecturer in Genomics.

This appointment will further strengthen strategic focus on medical genomic research and genomics education. The group is closely allied with University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust and plays a key academic partner role in the Wessex Genome Medicine Centre that is recruiting NHS patients to the Genomics England initiative. 

The existing repertoire of research strengths in this area spans genomic informatics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, functional cell biology and systems biology. The successful candidate will demonstrate research excellence within or complementary to these areas with clear potential to enhance the scope and potential of medical research.

The candidate will make a valued contribution to Genomics Education within the Faculty and will be expected to assume a leading role in management and delivery of the Masters Course in Genomic Medicine.

The individual will be strongly supported in developing an independent research group that benefits from collegiate interaction for national and international funding opportunities.

Which focuses on world leading research into human development and the mechanisms that underlie its impact on health and disease. HDH scientists, clinicians and students work in the laboratory, office, lecture theatre and clinic to understand the science, deliver excellence in teaching, and develop new treatments to make a difference.
