Job Details

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge?

Do you have an established background Biomolecular NMR?

Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to study dynamic mechanisms of activation of receptor tyrosine kinases by cancer-associated mutations. The Medical Research Council (MRC) funded project will combine protein NMR and biophysics techniques with state-of-the-art computational metadynamics simulations. You will be based in the laboratory of Professor Alex Breeze in the Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology at the University of Leeds, and will also spend time in the group of Professor Michele Vendruscolo (Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge). Exceptional facilities are available to support the project, including a new, 950 MHz cryoprobe-equipped Bruker AV III HD NMR spectrometer, fully upgraded Bruker 600 and 750 MHz spectrometers with cryoprobes, and state-of-the-art computational infrastructure. You will have a PhD (or close to completion) in Biomolecular NMR and have evidence of a good publication track record or potential to achieve one. You will be able to demonstrate experience in protein expression and labelling, protein NMR, and biophysics techniques; experience in all is not essential, but enthusiasm and aptitude to learn is.The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences gained a Bronze award in 2014 and submitted an application for a Silver award in April 2017.  We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider job share applications and requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees. Our Athena SWAN webpage provides more information.
