The School of Clinical Medicine

The School of Clinical Medicine has a strong focus on the delivery of both phases of the Medicine program across a number of sites within the Brisbane metropolitan area, including but not limited to, the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Herston; the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Woolloongabba as well as QE2 and Redlands Hospitals; the Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside as well as Redcliffe and Caboolture Hospitals; Mater and Lady Cilento Childrens Hospitals, South Brisbane; Ipswich Hospital, Ipswich; Greenslopes Private Hospital, Greenslopes; Wesley and St Andrew’s Hospitals, Brisbane; the Primary Care Clinical Unit, Herston and the St Lucia Campus. Leadership at each site is provided by an experienced academic with responsibility for budget and financial matters, human resource matters and facility management. The School consists of academic staff members across all clinical disciplines and more than 2500 academic title holders.  

The role

The Primary Care Clinical Unit comprises a dynamic group of GP clinical and primary care teachers and researchers supported by a network of approximately 200 committed General Practices throughout central and south-east Queensland that offer placements to University of Queensland medical students. As Advanced Academic Registrar, General Practice, you will have the opportunity to work with experienced educators and primary care researchers to expand your academic portfolio and develop an academic career. You will participate in teaching medical students in courses and in research projects aligned with the Primary Care Clinical Unit based at Herston.

The person

Applicants should be a registered medical practitioner (MBBS/MD) in Australia and have completed an Academic Registrar term at an academic institution during their General Practice Training under the RACGP (Royal Australian College of General Practitioners) or ACRRM (Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine). They should be within two years of obtaining their fellowship of the RACGP or ACRRM The successful candidate will have demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of General Practice, experience in teaching, and demonstrated research output.

 

Remuneration

This is a part-time (0.5FTE), twelve month fixed term appointment as a Teaching Focused or Clinical Academic Level B. The remuneration package will be in the range of $46,071.37 - $54,709.60 p.a. (pro rata amount) plus employer contributions of 9.5% (total pro-rata package will be in the range of $50,448.15 - $59,907.01).

Clinical Loading may be payable to eligible appointees.
