The Careers and Employability Service, based in Student Services, provides high quality information, advice and guidance to a diverse student body. The service also offers an established programme of employer engagement activities, events and several experience programmes. Our Career Practitioner team operates in an exciting, fast paced environment offering expert support to students in relation to their career and professional development. As a member of this team, you will contribute to establishing innovative ways to embed careers and employability within the university framework.  

With responsibility for a specified faculty/schools you will develop and deliver careers and employability learning to large and small groups of students. You will also provide individual careers guidance to students from across the University.

To support your Faculty work you will build effective working relationships with Faculty staff and relevant employers, and develop an appropriate knowledge of relevant employment sectors and opportunities. 

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to projects and other activities facilitating the on-going development of the service.  

We are seeking individuals with excellent team, organisational and project management skills; able to deliver to deadlines and manage multiple activities. You will be a confident, credible and inspirational individual with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, keen to apply innovative and creative approaches to careers work.  

You will have a recognised qualification in careers guidance, or relevant experience of providing advice (and preferably guidance) within a Higher Education context.  Evidence of the ability to influence others, including senior colleagues, is essential (and preferably demonstrated within a Higher Education setting).  You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the graduate labour market.

Applicants should be able to commit to evening and occasional weekend work as a requirement of the role.

This post is offered on a permanent basis offering a minimum salary of £29,799. Further benefits of this role include the opportunity to join the University pension scheme, 30 days annual leave and access to a number of employee discount schemes.
