The role

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be responsible for developing a research program in the design, biosynthesis and characterisation of smart biomaterials for medical applications. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary research program, led by Professor Alan Rowan (AIBN) and Professor Linda Lua (UQ Protein Expression Facility), that brings together the expertise of bioinspired polymers, supramolecular self-assembly, protein and bioprocess engineering, and macromolecular assemblies. You will perform research in the area of advanced biomaterial engineering and production, including molecular design, scale-up protein production, and functional and biophysical characterisation of proteins, to develop platform capabilities for efficient production of self-assembling protein complexes. The successful candidate is expected to publish in high-quality research journals, participate in applications for external research funding and contribute to the research training of students.

 

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of biotechnology, biochemistry or bioengineering. You should have demonstrated expert knowledge and skills in the area of biomaterial engineering and its applications. Also essential for this role is demonstrated teaching skills at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and evidence of contributions to research such as publications, international scientific presentations and successful external grant applications.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for two (2) years at Research Academic Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $81,545 - $87,535 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $95,408 - $102,416 p.a.).
