The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Senior Administrator, Department of Medicine.

 

Responsibilities

The principal role of the incumbent will be to facilitate, direct and promote systemic improvements in clinical governance and health care quality throughout the Department of Medicine. The position will report to the Chair, Medicine Department in leading and directing the strategic development of practice and innovation and in improving the quality of the patient’s experience and care outcomes, based on international best practices, in collaboration with the Service Line Chiefs (SLCs) and Business Managers (BMs). 

 

Key responsibilities include the following:

 

  • develop a plan with the Department Chair relating to the quality framework to be implemented through the SLCs and BMs
  • coordinate with SLCs and BMs for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of healthcare quality frameworks 
  • deliver service improvements to ensure safe, effective, patient centered care plan
  • play a leading role in coordination with the Chair and SLCs, for the formulation and implementation of strategies to ensure effective clinical governance and quality improvement
  • supervise and collaborate with Information Technology Department and BMs to develop dashboards at a departmental  level, which can be utilized by the Department Chair
  • conduct training and share knowledge among faculty and staff of the department for better understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement and patient safety parameters
  • collate the education and research data at faculty level for preparing reports for the Department Chair for review, appraisal and discussion with faculty
  • lead the development of  the strategic plan of the department in relation to research and education in line with the institutional plans, and support Chair in ensuring implementation of the plan
  • comply with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) indicators to adhere institutional policies and processes
  • coordinate formal teaching of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Graduate level programmes and maintain professional affiliations with external regularatory bodies.

 

Requirements

You should have:

  • a medical degree with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare /Hospital/ Management from a recognized institution
  • professional qualifications in the areas of Quality Management and Risk Management will be preferred
  • 5 to 7 years of management experience in a reputable health care institution
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • strong leadership and management skills
  • ability to work effectively with senior management, faculty and staff and in multi-disciplinary teams
  • excellent analytical and problem-solving skills proficiency in the use of computer applications
  • ability to multi task, prioritize and adapt to a fast paced, evolving working environment with multiple priorities.
