The postholder will work as a member of the School of Engineering’s Education Support Team: a group of administrators which provides support to the students and academic staff in the School of Engineering. Main duties will include general programme administration, support for Canvas, admissions, timetabling, assessment & examination processes, attendance monitoring, BIRMS entry, and administration of CPD short courses.

 

Essential:

• A good level of general education, potentially educated to at least ‘A’ level standard or equivalent, along with demonstrable experience of administration within an Education environment or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.

• Competent in IT (e.g. Word, Excel) to a standard where emails, letters, spreadsheets of data can be used with minimal levels of supervision following initial briefing.

• Demonstrable experience of working within a multifunctional environment, e.g. experience in prioritising workload to tight deadlines, taking account of the needs of the main areas of activity in the Centre/School.

• Demonstrable experience and ability to understand and follow complex administrative procedures, and to deal with many types of customer interactions.

• Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with staff from secretarial/administrative levels to senior academics and invited visitors, including those from overseas.

• Demonstrate attention to duty and accuracy, even when performing routine tasks.

• Demonstrate understanding of relevant policies and procedures as they affect the role, and the quality standards and outputs required.

• Evidence of good customer-service skills.

 

Desirable:

• Experience of using BIRMS and Canvas or other iVLE.
