The School of Materials Science and Engineering at UNSW Sydney has an international reputation for research and teaching excellence. It is one of the leading schools in the world in the development of novel functional materials and in devising innovative solutions for their applications, increasingly with sustainability in mind. In early 2015 the School moved into a brand new, purpose-built facility, which provides staff and students in the School with exceptional, state-of-the-art research laboratories and versatile collaborative learning spaces. The School has also very much led the way with regards to the Torch Innovation Initiative, a University-wide program to establish an innovation park linking with Chinese corporate business.

UNSW is currently seeking a new Head of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. The appointee will ideally be an outstanding researcher with demonstrated academic impact in one or more of the School’s key research disciplines and who has the leadership acumen to lead a large and complex academic unit.
