Job Details

Two-years postdoctoral position offered for a developmental biologist at the laboratory of Pablo Bermejo-Álvarez at the Animal Reproduction Department, INIA (Madrid, Spain). The candidate must have publications as first author in the area of Developmental Biology, Embryology or Biology of Reproduction.

The contract is associated to a Starting Grant Project from ERC (ELONGAN) aiming to study embryo elongation in ungulates. Embryo elongation entails early and late gastrulation events and even early somitogenesis, and failures on these events are the main responsible for reproductive losses in the most relevant mammalian livestock species. Besides, contrary to the mouse model, gastrulation in ungulates is very similar to humans, constituting an excellent model to study this process and others related. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of in vitro systems to mimic embryo elongation events and to analyse the development of KO bovine embryos produced by CRISPR.
