Directorate for Student Discipline and Mediation

Case Officer (post level 10/11)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide procedural and administrative assistance to the Manager and the Senior Case Officer in the day-to-day running of the Directorate.
  • Execute tasks relating to the effective and efficient handling of any student disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure effective processes of formal and informal adjudication until conclusion of the matter in all instances of student discipline, involving the less serious infringements of the University of the Free State’s Rules.
  • Accountable to the Manager of the Directorate.
  • Act as Prosecutor.
  • Facilitate mediations.
  • Compile reports.
  • Draft rules, procedures and related processes.
  •  

    Inherent requirements:

    • Law degree.
    • Two (2) to three (3) years’ relevant experience.

     

    Required competencies:

    • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University's richly diverse working environment.
    • Thorough knowledge of dealing with student disciplinary matters.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Ability to deal effectively with conflict situations.

    As soon as possible.
