Job Details

The Southern Universities Network (SUN) comprises a number of higher education providers, further education (FE) colleges, schools, and other organisations in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It is part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) initiative. Funded by the Office for Students, NCOP aims to increase the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in Higher Education by 2020.

We have two positions available and these posts will see successful candidates based at the University of Southampton and working under the overall direction of the SUN central team, reporting on a day to day basis to the SUN Project Manager.

The post-holders will work with FE colleges across the entire SUN region (Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight) to help them to engage with the NCOP programme, support them in developing project proposals and contribute to the development and delivery of an engaging post-16 SUN programme.

With experience of working in and/or with FE colleges and an understanding of the widening participation agenda, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining relationships with colleagues in a number of FE colleges in the SUN region to enable them to engage with the SUN programme. You will support FE colleges in the development, delivery and evaluation of their own NCOP-focused projects. You will also work alongside SUN Project Leaders within our HE partner institutions to develop and deliver the SUN post-16 NCOP programme.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage a varied and demanding workload, possess excellent communication skills, have proven experience of inter-agency collaboration and be adept at achieving ‘buy-in’ to new initiatives. You will have experience of organising events and producing high quality resources for educational purposes.

The post is offered on a fixed term basis and the successful candidate will be appointed on a scale between £29,799 – £36,613.

Interview dates will be on Tuesday 12th and Friday 15th June 2018.

A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service clearance is also required.
