Student Affairs Division

The Student Affairs Division falls within the DVCA portfolio, which brings together central units that provide operational, corporate, and pastoral support for all aspects of the student lifecycle. The Division is a key driver in enhancing the UQ student experience, and retention, success, and employability. It has two operational arms: the Student Services Directorate, and the UQ Student Employability Centre. 

 

The Person

Applicants should have experience in the human services sector with at least 4 years’ experience in a direct service support role. You should have a demonstrable understanding of the transition and adjustment issues faced by people as they move into new social and/or academic environments. You will have experience in working collaboratively with large groups and be experienced in working with individuals with complex needs.   Ideally, you would have an understanding of the higher education sector and both University and community based support services for students.

You should have a strong desire to work collaboratively and in partnership with colleagues and students to deliver support programs that enhances the student experience for all students at UQ.

The role

The Student Adviser team are responsible for developing, promoting and delivering tailored support services to students. This includes both working proactively with groups of students and working individually, case managing complex student needs. The role of the adviser covers all 52,000 students and currently, around 70% of the case load is in supporting international students.

Remuneration

There are two full time appointments, one fixed term and one continuing appointment at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range of $81,883 – $89,559 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17.5% (total package will be in the range $95,803 - $104,784 p.a.).
