Student Services

The Student Services Directorate is part of the Student Affairs Division, which also comprises the Health Service and UQ Advantage Office. The objective of Student Services is to provide a range of services and support functions that enhance the student experience and assist in ensuring student success.

 

The person

The Student Affairs Division falls within the DVCA portfolio, which brings together central units that provide operational, corporate, and pastoral support for all aspects of the student lifecycle.  The Division is a key driver in enhancing the UQ student experience, and retention, success, and employability.  It has two operational arms:  the Student Services Directorate, and the UQ Student Employability Centre. 

Applicants should have experience in the human services sector with at least 4 years’ experience in a direct service support role. 

You should have a demonstrable knowledge of issues relating to equity, diversity and equal opportunity as it relates to the Higher Education sector, with a specific focus on people with disabilities.

Ideally, you would have experience in Federal and State anti discrimination and equal opportunity legistlation.

You should have a strong desire to work collaboratively and in partnership with colleagues and students to deliver support programs that enhance the student experience for all students at UQ.

The role

The Student Diversity & Inclusion Team provide a range of support services which facilitate access for students who require adjustments to aid their academic endeavour to succeed.

The team cover all 52,000 students at UQ and work to support students including elite athletes, students with disabilities, students who require assistance due to unforeseen circumstances or other situations that might be challenging the environment in which they can succeed.

This role is responsible for liaisting, training and advising UQ’s staff and students on student diversity and inclusion, including disability awareness issues, relevant legislation and University policy and procedures relating to academic adjustments.

Remuneration

This is a full time, fixed term appointment until December 2019 at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range of $81,883 – $89,559 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17.5% (total package will be in the range $95,803 - $104,784 p.a.).
