The successful appointee will have the responsibility to independently develop and validate new bioanalytical methods for measurement of drug concentration in biological matrices. The role will be focussed primarily on the hands-on use of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) instrumentation to develop and optimise novel methods for measurement of drug concentration in plasma and serum.

The role also requires the appointee to act as a Study Director for studies in accordance with the TetraQ OECD Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) quality system. Duties in this area will include preparation of study plans and reports, communication with clients and supervision of study staff.  The appointee will also work collaboratively with other scientists in the bioanalytical team on both method validation and sample analysis work.

The person

Applicants should possess at least an Honours degree in analytical or biomedical science and preferably post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline.  At least three years of relevant bioanalytical research experience is also required. Good knowledge of US FDA and EMA guidances on bioanalytical method validation is a must.

You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and productive research career in health sciences, good general research skills, a strong methodological background in bioanalytical sciences, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively as a member of a larger research team.  The position also requires the ability to multi-task and work to timelines.

The University of Queensland values diversity and inclusion and actively encourages applications from those who bring diversity to the University. Please refer to the University’s Diversity and Inclusion webpage (https://staff.uq.edu.au/information-and-services/human-resources/diversity) for further information and points of contact if you require additional support.
