New Generation of Academics' Programme (nGAP) - Phase 4Faculty of EngineeringDepartment of Civil EngineeringStructural Engineering and Civil Engineering Informatics.Lecturer / Junior Lecturer nGAP  (Ref. ING05/175/0518)A vacancy exists in a strong teaching and research team in Structural Engineering in an environment with a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The candidate must follow a career in this field of study. A devoted mentorship team will guide the incumbent, and his/her career development depends on his/her academic achievements in teaching, development of a national and international research profile and societal impact.The position is part of the nGAP initiative of the DHET.

Duties

  • Teaching and curriculum development in Structural Engineering;
  • Postgraduate study guidance and research in Structural Engineering;
  • Academic and departmental administration.

 

Job Requirements

  •  Junior LecturerA Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering;
  • A good academic study record in Civil/Structural Engineering;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • The candidate must qualify to register for a PhD in Structural Engineering at the latest in 2019 and  graduate within four years.LecturerA Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering;
  • A good academic study record in Civil/Structural Engineering;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

 

Recommendation

  •  Junior LecturerEnrolled for a PhD degree. Junior Lecturer / LecturerA background in Finite Element Methods and / or Civil Engineering Informatics and / or Structural Steel Design, and a willingness to teach in these strategic subject fields;
  • Experience and ability in delivering presentations to large audiences.
