The Law Clinic operates as a fully-fledged attorneys’ office, delivering legal services to the indigent, whilst at the same time training final year law students and candidate attorneys in the practical application of the law.

Duties:

The Stellenbosch University Law Clinic seeks to appoint a recently admitted attorney. The incumbent will be required to perform the work typically performed by a law clinician, which includes:

• Providing legal services, including consulting, researching, drafting and litigating;
• Supervising and mentoring candidate attorneys and students;
• Providing legal education and training to candidate attorneys, students and to members of the community, including the poor and marginalized;
• Managing relationships with Clinic stakeholders;
• Conducting administration relating to all of the above activities.

Job Requirements:

• LLB;
• Recently admitted attorney;
• Valid driver’s licence;
• Computer literate;
• Ability to work under pressure and independently;
• Diligent and hardworking;
• Proactive and innovative;
• Sound interpersonal relations;
• Competent written and verbal communication abilities;
• Ability to function effectively in a multicultural environment.

Recommendation:

• Ability to communicate in IsiXhosa.
