The Law Clinic operates as a fully-fledged attorneys’ office, delivering legal services to the indigent, whilst at the same time training final year law students and candidate attorneys in the practical application of the law.
Duties:
The Stellenbosch University Law Clinic seeks to appoint a recently admitted attorney. The incumbent will be required to perform the work typically performed by a law clinician, which includes:
- Providing legal services, including consulting, researching, drafting and litigating;
- Supervising and mentoring candidate attorneys and students;
- Providing legal education and training to candidate attorneys, students and to members of the community, including the poor and marginalized;
- Managing relationships with Clinic stakeholders;
- Conducting administration relating to all of the above activities.
Job Requirements:
- LLB;
- Recently admitted attorney;
- Valid driver’s licence;
- Computer literate;
- Ability to work under pressure and independently;
- Diligent and hardworking;
- Proactive and innovative;
- Sound interpersonal relations;
- Competent written and verbal communication abilities;
- Ability to function effectively in a multicultural environment.
Recommendation:
- Ability to communicate in IsiXhosa.
