The School of Clinical Medicine

The School of Clinical Medicine has a strong focus on the delivery of both phases of the Medicine program across a number of sites within the Brisbane metropolitan area, including but not limited to, the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Herston; the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Woolloongabba as well as QE2 and Redlands Hospitals; The Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside as well as Redcliffe and Caboolture Hospitals; Mater and Lady Cilento Childrens Hospitals, South Brisbane; Ipswich Hospital, Ipswich; Greenslopes Private Hospital, Greenslopes; Wesley and St Andrew’s Hospitals, Brisbane; and the St Lucia Campus. Leadership at each site is provided by an experienced academic with responsibility for budget and financial matters, human resource matters and facility management. The School consists of academic staff members across all clinical disciplines and more than 2500 academic title holders. 

The role

The Professor in Thoracic Medicine will provide a high level contribution to both the teaching and learning and research activities in the UQ Northside Clinical Unit.  The appointee will have demonstrated expert knowledge of thoracic medicine and will be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

A joint appointment with Metro North Hospital and Health Service may be negotiated for this post.

The person

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of the course curriculum and assessments for MD students at The Prince Charles Hospital, UQ Northside Clinical Unit.  The candidate will also contribute to face-to-face clinical teaching to support the development of clinical knowledge and skills as well as short and long case skills in each Year 3 Medicine rotation.

The appointee will demonstrate a high level of leadership in teaching, research and service.  They will maintain personal academic standing, including the pursuit of research and scholarship in respiratory medicine and consistently demonstrate the translation of research findings into improvements in health outcomes in respiratory medicine.

Remuneration

This is a part-time (0.2FTE), fixed term appointment at Academic level E for 3 years. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate including 17% superannuation.  

A joint appointment with Metro North Hospital and Health Service may be negotiated for this post.
