International Office

Job Title: Administrative Officer B2 (Two-year fixed-term contract with benefits and the possibility of extension based on the availability of funding.)

Ref: TGB00/177/0518

 

The International Office of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences handles the day-to-day academic administration and operational services of undergraduate- and postgraduate foreign students. This office is looking for a dynamic person who can help with the delivering of a service to foreign undergraduate students.

 

Duties

  • Managing the undergraduate elective programme;
  • Liaising with international exchange partners and other stakeholders;
  • Liaising with academic departments with regards to the placement of international students;
  • Facilitating the application and registration processes of international elective students;
  • Liaising with Academic Administration on the Tygerberg- as well as on the main campus with regards to registration of international students;
  • Liaising with the different professional boards in South Africa;
  • Liaising with the Department of Home Affairs with regards to visa applications of international students;
  • Maintaining an accurate and effective filing system of student data;
  • Rendering support to international students with regards to logistic and administrative matters of student life in South Africa.

 

Job Requirements

  • Relevant post matric qualification;
  • Three years’ administrative experience in a tertiary institution or relevant environment;
  • Good written, reading and verbal communication skills;
  • Good computer skills (MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet);
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills;
  • Ability to work in a team and individually;
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and care;
  • Ability to prioritise and adhere to deadlines;
  • Ability to be creative and flexible in unforeseen situations.

 

Recommendation

  • Work experience in an international office or similar environment;
  • Good leadership skills and abilities;
  • Valid driver's licence.
