Job Details

The post-holder will work within the Employee Relations Team to provide a specialist HR advisory service supporting the effective management of a portfolio of Employee Relations Cases and organisational change. The post holder will also take a pro-active role supporting initiatives for building competency for the managing of Employee Relations issues for operational management teams across the organisation.

 

  • CIPD qualification/membershipwith a proven track record of CPD or significant operational experience obtained within a generalist HR Advisory role with a strong focus on the management of ER case work.
  • Sound knowledge of Employment Law principles, current case law and codes of practice.
  • Thoroughly conversant with the whole employment cycle, with specialist knowledge of disciplinary, grievance and change management processes.
  • Sound knowledge gained through substantial experience of generalist HR practices.
  • Analytical and risk management skills with experience of delivering a wide range of innovative solutions to problems and issues.
  • Proven experience in influencing outcomes and resolving conflict.
  • Experience of writing complex, multi-faceted reports.
  • Experience of designing and delivering training sessions for managers is desirable.
  • Excellent relationship building, able to quickly establish credibility, trust and common purpose in the management of HR issues.
  • The ability to manage the expectations of a diverse range of stakeholders who may have disparate and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff including Senior members of the University, using developed persuasive and negotiating skills to ensure appropriate actions from a range of options.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex and sensitive information logically and clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to changing demands and concerns throughout processes ensuring movement towards the best outcome for the parties involved.
  • Good IT skills and an ability to learn new IT software.
  • Excellent organisational and highly accurate administrative skills.
  • An ability to work simultaneously and effectively to progress multiple different activities across multiple areas.
