Job Details

“New strategies for label-free deep-tissue imaging”
Our team is developing new optical microscopy modalities for high/super-resolution in biological samples. We work in close collaboration with the Institut Interdisciplinaire des Neurosciences (IINS, Bordeaux) and the Institut des Maladies Neurodégénératives (IMN, Bordeaux) to apply our freshly developed techniques directly in brain tissues and thus address neuroscience questions (see e.g. Bon et al. Nat. Methods 2018, Varela et al. Nat. Comm. 2016, Godin et al. Nat. Nanotechnol. 2017…).

While the use of fluorescent probes allows highly specific imaging of precise pool of molecules, we are still lacking of environment information in a label-free manner, especially deep into the samples. We have developed quantitative phase imaging to unravel thin sample structures without any staining (Bon et al., Biophys. J., 2014) and we want to outspread quantitative phase imaging deep into biological samples.

The candidate will be in charge of developing a new design for quantitative phase imaging that will leads to label-free deep-(living) tissue imaging. He/she should be trained in optics. A working experience in high-resolution and/or label-free microscopy would be appreciated.

The candidate should be highly organized, independent with a taste for interdisciplinary. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their CV along with a list of publications and reference contacts.
Starting date and duration : ASAP - 1 year contract
Location : University of Bordeaux - Laboratoire Photonique Numérique et Nanosciences (LP2N) - Talence - FRANCE
Contact : Pierre Bon, pierre.bon@u-bordeaux.fr

A full-time 1 year contract will be granted with full access to French national security cover.
Salary starting from 31K€ gross per annum.

Please send a full application including detailed CV with publications and a motivation letter to pierre.bon@u-bordeaux.fr
