Job Purpose

This post will provide a broad range of Marketing and Communications support for the School of Engineering. Working as part of the EPS Marketing and Communications team, the post holder will be the interface between the team and the School. They will hold the relationships and knowledge about activities within the School and work with the team to create content that is used to promote the School through appropriate channels.

The post holder will support marketing activities for student recruitment and communications activities that raise the profile of the School’s research and its researchers. They will act as the School’s champion for online content and lead a fresh approach to internal communications within the School. The post will also support delivery of College level marcomms strategic priorities.

 

Person Specification

  • Degree-level education or equivalent work experience
  • Substantial experience of working in a marketing and/or communications environment 
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence in dealing with senior staff and projects at all levels
  • Proven copywriting, editing and proof-reading ability with a high level of attention to detail
  • Well-developed administrative and organisational skills
  • Tenacious, with a creative and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Computer literate, highly confident and competent in the use of database systems and electronic communication
  • Experience of MS Office including Mail-Merge
  • Experience of using social media in a business environment
  • An understanding of web content including structure and navigation
  • Experience of using web content management systems to an intermediate or advanced level
  • Experience of working independently to develop online communications and writing/editing corporate websites for large organisations, preferably in higher education
  • The ability to follow website policies and processes, and produce clear and engaging content that adheres to best practice
  • Experience of co-ordinating of video production
  • Highly proactive, creative and able to grasp complex ideas
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and approachable with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Desire and ability to take the initiative
  • Ability to prioritise work in a pressured environment
  • Ability to handle basic statistical information.
  • A team player but someone who can work independently
  • Prepared to undertake occasional work in the evenings and weekends
