Division Head, Pediatric Neurology

The Division of Neurology, in the Department of Pediatrics at Dalhousie University and the IWK Health Centre, invite applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) academic position as Division Head of Pediatric Neurology at the Associate or Full Professor level. This individual will join a team of 4 neurologists. The academic physician will primarily provide clinical service across the full spectrum of pediatric neurology.
The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in research and/or teaching activities in an academic environment; a developed interest in either would be considered an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the on-call coverage for general pediatric neurology. Leadership experience and training will be also be considered assets.
The applicant must have an MD or equivalent, and be board certified in Pediatric Neurology (Canadian FRCPC or eligibility), and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Nova Scotia.

LOCUM NEONATOLOGIST
The Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Medicine and the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia is seeking a long-term locum tenens neonatologist for all or part of a 6-month block (with likely extension to 12-months) commencing July 1, 2022 for a 0.5 FTE vacancy. The locum could be structured as part-time for the entire period or full-time for shorter periods.
The IWK Health Centre is an academic tertiary care pediatric and maternal care hospital. It is the main perinatal centre for Nova Scotia and serves as the pediatric referral centre (including the only pediatric surgical services) for the Maritime Provinces. The locum neonatologist will primarily provide clinical care as part of an interdisciplinary team in the 40-bed combined Level II/III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the IWK Health Centre. There may also be opportunities to provide care through the Perinatal Follow-Up Program of Nova Scotia, which is closely affiliated with the Division and provides comprehensive detailed, longer term follow-up to selected infants. Teaching would be a minor component of the role, focused primarily on trainees rotating through the service. There are no expectations for research or administrative responsibilities.
The successful physician will join a team of seven academic neonatologists. The NICU features a recently redeveloped state-of-the-art, single-family room care environment. The service is supported by Obstetrical and Maternal-Fetal Medicine services, a full spectrum of on-site pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties, excellent diagnostic imaging and laboratory resources, and the Reproductive Care Program of Nova Scotia, one of the best regional perinatal programs in North America. The academic mission of the Division is bolstered by a strong research environment that includes the Nova Scotia Atlee Perinatal Database and the Perinatal Epidemiology Research Unit.
Academic qualifications include a MD degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university with completed recognized specialty training and certification in Pediatrics and in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (or equivalent). Eligibility for medical licensure in Nova Scotia is required.
