Faculty Education Service Manager
Are you a strong and inclusive leader, with demonstrable experience in motivating diverse teams to deliver shared goals?
Are you a creative and innovative problem solver able to engage and influence a wide range of audiences and key partners?
Do you relish change and the opportunity to shape and influence a service delivering to almost 30,000 students across our University?
This is a key role, providing leadership in the Student Education Service for the Faculty of Medicine & Health, and across the University through membership of the Student Education Service leadership team.
You will report to the University’s Director of Student Operations and work in close partnership with the Faculty’s Executive team, in particular the Pro-Dean for Student Education, to lead, shape develop and manage student education services within the Faculty.
You will lead and manage a large team with 10 Student Education Service Managers consisting of both School Education Service Managers and Faculty Functional Managers reporting directly to you, each with their own diverse teams to manage and support. The Faculty comprises of four Schools.
The Schools of Healthcare, Medicine, Psychology, and Dentistry, with a complex programme portfolio involving teaching delivery from a range of partners and in locations across the region. The majority of students are required to undertake placements co-ordinated by the University on behalf of our partners.
Funding for programmes of study is complex and almost all undergraduate and many taught postgraduate programmes are either regulated or accredited by Professional, Statutory or Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs). A critical aspect of the role is to build and develop positive relationships with our partners and PSRBs.
The scale and multifaceted nature of student services both within the Faculty and the external environment within which it operates will require the role holder to continually identify innovative and practical solutions to complex issues. A high degree of influencing and negotiation will be critical both across the Faculty and with the full range of partner organisations, as well as the ability to bring key stakeholders together to ensure alignment of activities to meet diverse strategic priorities.
You will look for opportunities to streamline and harmonise processes, to raise quality standards and improve the consistency of delivery to students and academic staff. At a University wide and a local level you will create a culture of trusted partnership, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, challenging and influencing staff at all levels to embrace ways of working which further enhance the student experience.
