Job Details

The Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CiQUS) is seeking a research associate for specialized technical support, in the field of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), for the developing of research lines in carbon and inorganic nanomaterials, macromolecules and organic nanostructures or biological nanosystems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Characterization of nanostructured materials and other types of samples (macromolecules and organic nanostructures, biological samples, etc.) using high resolution TEM / STEM techniques, Preparation of samples for study by high resolution electronic microscopy and cryo-TEM.
  • Employment of electron diffraction techniques, microanalysis for the analysis of nanostructures, reconstruction of 3D structures by tomography and use of on-site equipment for real-time analysis.
  • Scientific-technical advice in the preparation of samples, the design of all types of experiments that require transmission microscopy and in the collection and interpretation of results derived from them.
  • Basic user management, maintenance and training tasks.

 

Requirements:

PhD in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science.

Research experience in transmission electron microscopy (publications, stays in research centers, etc.). Experience in TEM / STEM and in nanomaterials characterization techniques (EDS, EELS, tomography, cryo-TEM, etc.) will be highly valued.

Experience in management positions in high resolution electronic microscopy facilities: maintenance and optimization of equipment, technical support to researchers, etc.

 

Conditions:

A full time employment contract for a period of two years.
