The School of Psychology is seeking a Placements Manager to support its postgraduate professional training in the Health Psychology stream of the Master of Psychology.

The School of Psychology is one of the largest and most prestigious schools of psychology in Australia, and its strong reputation is built on excellence in both research and teaching. The School offers the following postgraduate training programs leading to professional practice as a psychologist:

  • Master of Psychology (Counselling Psychology, Health Psychology, Sport & Exercise Psychology, and Clinical Neuropsychology streams)
  • Master of Organisational Psychology
  • Master of Clinical Psychology
  • Doctor of Psychology

 

Around 170 students are currently enrolled in postgraduate professional training programs in the School.

The role

The purpose of the Placements Manager (Health Psychology) position is to manage existing and develop new placements, with a particular focus on health placements, to ensure that students in the Master of Psychology achieve professional practice competence. This involves matching students to placement organisations, providing support to students and field supervisors to ensure that placement requirements are met, assisting in assessment of competencies, keeping accurate records, and developing new placement opportunities to meet increased demand. Assisting with the supervision of postgraduate students within placement settings may also be required.

The person

Applicants will be registered as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and have a minimum of two years professional experience working as a psychologist, preferably within a health context. Applicants will have endorsement in Health Psychology with the Psychology Board of Australia, or be currently undertaking the registrar program for endorsement. The appointee will be familiar with a broad range of services and organisations providing relevant specialised psychological services, and will have high level communication and organisational skills. He or she will build effective working relationships with key personnel in relevant external organisations who can provide relevant professional supervision and placement opportunities for health psychology students.

Remuneration

The appointment will be made on a part-time (0.5 FTE), continuing basis at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $92,811 - $104,214 p.a. (full-time equivalent), plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $108,588 - $121,930 p.a. full-time equivalent).
