Job Purpose
We invite a post-doctoral research fellow to join the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham and contribute to our exciting portfolio of multidisciplinary research targeting the promotion of active ageing.
The post will be dedicated to the data analysis of existing observational and longitudinal data sets, data analysis of the ongoing, National Institute Health Research-funded REtirement into ACTion [REACT] trial and development of grant applications in the area of active ageing promotion. The research fellow will be responsible for overseeing data management and statistical analyses, preparing manuscripts for publication and contributing to public engagement activities while establishing and maintaining collaborative and productive working relationships with community partners.
Person Specification
• PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis methods to apply within established research programmes that include experimental and longitudinal data.
• High level analytical capability.
• Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and ability to contribute to developing new ones.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to communicate material of a specialist or highly technical nature.
• Able to manage research and administrative activities and to balance the competing pressures of research and administrative demands and deadlines.
• Able to liaise with colleagues and students.
• Able to build contacts and participate in internal and external networks for the exchange of information and collaboration.
• Able to identify potential sources of funding.
• Actively participate as a member of a research team.
• Engage in continuous professional development.
• Understand equal opportunity issues as they may impact on areas of research content
• Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively
• Contribute to the planning and organising of the research programme and/or specific research project
• Co-ordinate own work with others to avoid conflict or duplication of effort
