Curriculum Development Officer, National Medical Technologies Skills Academy (2 roles)

Job Details

Do you have the enthusiasm and the innovative mind-set that will help us to transform the way that educational provision can meet the needs of the rapidly-growing MedTech sector in the Leeds City Region?

Do you want to use your Engineering or Science background to create new approaches to multi-disciplinary learning support for students and for businesses that will help grow the productivity of one of the regional priority sectors?

The Leeds City Region is recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence for MedTech. It is home to over 250 businesses specialising in medical technologies and a further 200 digital and technology businesses operating in the health and social care space.

The success of the industry creates both an opportunity and a skills challenge: increasing demand for a high level of technical skill means that companies are finding it hard to fill vacancies and the dominance of small businesses means that companies often struggle to provide the necessary training and development.

The University of Leeds has significant capabilities that support the development of new medical technologies and these are united under a single gateway - Medical Technologies at the University of Leeds. Our vision is to support a MedTech industry workforce which is equipped with the skills to develop and manufacture 21st century medical devices. We have secured HEFCE Catalyst funding to implement the first phase of this vision – the National MedTech Skills Academy - in which industry and education providers will work together to establish a talent pipeline that will help train and develop the next generation of MedTech workforce.

You will work with academic colleagues to support the development of innovative teaching materials for the Academy. Holding a degree in a relevant engineering or scientific field, you will have an innovative, creative mind-set, and an enthusiasm for promoting excellence in teaching of engineering subjects.
