Job Details

Are you interested in applying your skills in experimental particle science on researching the behaviour of high aspect ratio pharmaceutical crystals and crystal beds?

Are you interested in 3D visualisation of multi particle systems?

Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

We are seeking a Research Fellow in Experimental Particle Science to join the large ADDoPT programme - Advanced Digital Design of Pharmaceutical Therapeutics.

You will be a member of the team of the £20.4M Advanced Digital Design of Pharmaceutical Therapeutics (ADDoPT) project. The aim of the ADDoPT project is to accelerate the translation of molecules into medicinal products by optimising the manufacturing processes of pharmaceutical products to effectively supply the current and next generation of medicines.

The project is funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative. The project is industry-led and is being delivered by a consortium of companies and academic institutions: AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, BRITEST, Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC), GlaxoSmithKline, Perceptive Engineering, Pfizer, Process Systems Enterprise (PSE) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s (SFTC) Hartree Centre together with the Universities of Cambridge, Leeds and Strathclyde. The position at the University of Leeds is directed towards experimental investigation in to the forces on particles in during filtration of pharmaceutical materials. In particular, the post involves tomographical visualisation of the structure of beds of particles made up of high aspect ratio crystals and the study of all aspects of breakage occurring during percolation of liquid through such beds,

Your work will be instrumental in the validation of modelling approachas from work packages in the ADDoPT project. This is an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated researcher to join an established and internationally leading research team.
