Job Purpose

Working under the direction of the Communications Manager the post holder will be actively involved in the planning and delivery of marketing and communications activities for the College of Medical and Dental Sciences. This will involve communicating to a variety of different audiences across multiple communication channels and working with a range of stakeholders.

A major focus of the role will be to develop and deliver the staff internal communications strategy, including the ownership and development of the staff intranet, delivering several annual staff events and overseeing the management and content of the College’s digital display screens.

This post provides support across the College Marketing and Communications Team for a wide range of activities and a flexible combination of administrative and project-based support is required together with an organised and pro-active approach.

Additional activities will include working across the whole spectrum of marketing and communications, including both digital and offline marketing communications. The post holder will also support research communications and student recruitment projects.

 

Person Specification

  • Good degree-level education or equivalent working experience
  • Experience of working in a marketing or communications environment across a wide range of specialisms
  • Experience of using a Customer Relationship Management system
  • A proven, high standard of written and oral communication and confidence of dealing with projects at all levels
  • Good copywriting skills
  • Experience of providing support for complex internal and external events
  • Ability to work with initiative, under pressure and manage multiple workloads simultaneously
  • Experience of liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior managers
  • Well-developed administrative and organisational skills with a proven ability to pay attention to detail
  • Experience of working with social media in a professional context
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Creative and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Computer literate, confident and competent in the use of database systems and electronic communication
  • Experience of working with content management systems for making website/intranet updates
  • A real team player who can also work independently
  • Flexibility to work out of hours as required (including occasional evening and weekend work) and a willingness to travel
