Faculty of Medicine

The University of Queensland’s Faculty of Medicine is an internationally recognised provider of world-class education and research. The research-intensive Faculty has a gross budget of almost $300 million, employs approximately 1000 continuing and fixed-term staff (headcount), has a community of more than 4000 non-salaried academic appointees and around 3200 students (headcount).

The Faculty of Medicine offers Australia’s largest medical degree program for graduates and school-leavers. Undergraduate and postgraduate programs are available in the disciplines of Medicine, Health Sciences, E-Health, Mental Health, Biomedical Sciences and Public Health.

 

The role

The Marketing and Communications Officer is a key member of the Faculty’s Marketing and Communications function, working closely with the Marketing and Communication Managers. The successful applicant will implement a range of strategic marketing and communication initiatives including event management, copywriting, digital marketing, and coordination of publications.

 

The person

This role is appointable at HEW Level 5 or HEW Level 6 dependant on the successful applicant.

At HEW Level 5, you will have a Bachelor degree or an equivalents combination of experience, education and/or training. You will have prior experience in events management with an ability to research, write and produce marketing publications, maintain website content and work within a range of software applications including MS Office. Prior experience in Vision6, InDesign and Drupal or an ability to rapidly become competent is also essential as is strong organisational skills, a high level of attention to detail and an ability to work independently or liaise with others to develop solutions.

At HEW Level 6, you will have a Bachelor degree with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training. You will have prior experience in events management with a strong understanding of the dynamics relating to interacting with high-level officials and extensive experience researching, writing and producing a range of publications as well as maintaining website content. A high level of computer competency is also essential (including experience in MS Office and specialist software including Vision6, InDesign and Drupal) as are high level organisational skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and experience working both independently and within a team environment.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment until 7 September 2019 at HEW Level 5 or HEW Level 6.

At HEW Level 5, the remuneration package will be in the range $64,597 - $72,348, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,579 - $84,648).

At HEW Level 6, the remuneration package will be in the range $74,207 - $79,964, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $86,822 - $93,558).
