Post-doctoral in Biochemistry

The Centre of Excellence in New Target Discovery (CENTD), a new partnership among São Paulo Research Foundation-FAPESP, Glaxo-Smith Kline (GSK) and Butantan Institute, has a postdoctoral position available in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Butantan Institute, São Paulo, Brazil.

The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to work in projects on the identification/elucidation and validation of new targets/pathways related to inflammatory processes in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, tissue remodeling/cancer, metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases, using as tools toxins from poisonous animals.
As requirements, candidates must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related fields, having at least two articles as first author in international journals, motivation to solve biological complex problems in the field of molecular targets.

Proven experience in sample preparation (protein extraction, solution and in-gel digestion, chemical derivatization, metabolic, desalination, decomplexing of protein and peptide samples by ion exchange chromatography and reversed phase) for proteomic analysis from approaches like shotgun bottom-up, including techniques of DDA, DIA, PRM and SRM for characterization and quantification of target proteins. The candidate should have conceptual and practical experience in liquid nano-chromatography coupled to high resolution mass spectrometry and analysis of the data generated by the LC-MS/MS platform, preferably using the coupled EASY-nLC1200 (Thermo Scientific) instruments coupled to mass spectrometer Q Exactive Plus (Thermo Scientific). Preferably, candidates will be selected who dominate the proteomic database search tools (MaxQuant, Skyline, Mascot, TPP, Sequest, etc.). Experience in bioinformatics is also desired.

Fluent English (conversation and writing) and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team are essential requirements.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP's Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7.174,80 (around $ 2,115.00 USD) monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
