We are looking for passionate and dedicated young investigators to "Prospection survey for molecular detection and characterization of haemosporids and arboviruses in mosquitoes of the Atlantic Forest Biome"

The project will have its field activities carried out in the São Paulo Zoo, its surroundings and on the north coast of the State. The project has three objectives: 1- To detect and characterize by molecular techniques hemosporidians and emerging arboviruses of importance in public and veterinary health, in culicidae and culicoids of areas of the Atlantic Forest Biome considered sentinels, aiming surveillance and control. In order to do so, the fellow must make partnerships and promote field expeditions to collect mosquitoes whenever necessary; 2 - To discover the culicidae and culicoid species related to the transmission of Plasmodium, Haemoproteus and arbovirus, aiming at strategies for vector control within the Zoological Park of São Paulo and implementation of protection measures for captive and free living animals as well as for the visitor public; 3 - Search through comparative proteomics, proteins differentially expressed in mosquitoes experimentally infected with yellow fever virus to elaborate new methods of virus detection in mosquitoes and new tools to control mosquitoes and the viruses transmitted by them.

The candidate will be responsible for the entomological collection of mosquitoes and culicoids and molecular diagnosis of hemosporidians and emergent arboviruses of importance in public and veterinary health.

The project will be funded by São Paulo Research Foundation – FAPESP (www.fapesp.br/en), through its Young Investigator Award Program (http://fapesp.br/en/4479). The award will be provided as a Research Grant with the maximum duration of 48 months. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Young Investigator Fellowship in the amount of R$ 8.152,20 monthly free of Income Taxes. The peer reviewed project of the selected Young Investigator may receive a Research Grant as described in http://fapesp.br/en/4479.

To be an established researcher and to have experience of at least five years within the research filed as described previusly.
