The University of Bristol Law School is a leading UK law school with an international reputation for outstanding teaching and research. The School is seeking to enhance its educational capacity by recruiting either a Senior Teaching Associate or Teaching Fellow to support the work of our Law Clinic. The person appointed will support the work of the Clinic by supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students engaged with case work, teaching on our Clinical Legal Studies unit and contributing to the operation and development of the Law Clinic in terms of broadening its activities and reach.

You should have significant experience of teaching in higher education or equivalent; sufficient breadth of legal knowledge of a relevant area of English Law (eg housing, landlord and tenant, employment, social security, family law, contract /consumer law, immigration); the ability to supervise students engaged in case work; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Successful completion of the Legal Practice Course or the Bar Professional Training Course or equivalent; and a good honours degree at undergraduate level or equivalent in law or a law-related subject is also essential. 

For appointment to Teaching Fellow level you should also have significant legal practice experience in a relevant area of English Law (eg housing, landlord and tenant, employment, social security, family law, contract /consumer law, immigration); knowledge of clinical legal pedagogy; ability and willingness to participate in the management of the School; and evidence of ability to successfully manage a team.  

The post is deemed progressable and is located on Pathway three, and will be appointed to either Profile Level b (Senior Teaching Associate, grade J) or Profile Level c (Teaching Fellow, grade K) of the University’s Academic Career Pathways, depending on relevant experience, knowledge and skills of the successful candidate.

The post is open ended and full time, however the School is open to requests for part time working.
