Job Details
Therefore, in this Project, our goal is to investigate the evolution of these emergent phenomena in system with reduced dimensionality, which included small size systems (nanoparticle, nanowires, etc) and low dimensional (2 D, 1D) massive systems.
In order to reach our goals, we will make use of our expertise in synthesis of materials and the following experimental techniques: magnetoresistivity and Hall effect measurements, magnetization, magnetic susceptibility ac/dc, specific heat, magneto-impedance, torquimetry, electron spin resonance (ESR), nuclear magnetic and quadrupolar resonance (NMR and NQR), Raman scattering, X-ray powder/magnetic diffraction/absorption (XANES, EXAFS, XMCD) Elemental analysis (EDS e WDS) and Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES).
The deep understanding of these complex phenomena is crucial to drive new scientific and technological developments to strategic areas of research in condensed matter such as: new materials design, devices design and functionalization, nanoscience and medicine, energy efficiency, high field generation, quantum computing, optical devices, spintronic among others.
The selected candidate will develop experimental work on topologically nontrivial materials, such as: multi-graphene, Bi1-xSbx, Bi2Se3, Bi2Te3 and Sb2Te3 , searching for Majorana fermions.
Desired skills for this post-doctoral:
- PhD degree in physics, with title acquired in the last five years;
- Experience in the low-temperature experiment, synthesis and structural characterization of materials, as well as magneto-electric transport, magnetization, and specific heat measurements;
- Being highly motivated, able to work independently and supervise/co-supervise undergraduate students;
- Have scientific publications on topics related to this project.
This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationalities. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,174.80 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
More information about the fellowship is at: fapesp.br/oportunidades/2217.
