Post-doctoral Fellowship in Integrated Agricultural Production Systems

The Institute de Zootecnia (IZ) makes public the opening of applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in the area of Integrated Agricultural Production Systems to be developed in its Research Center on Diversified Zootechnics and Research Center on Nutrition and Pasture, in Nova Odessa, São Paulo State, Brazil. We are looking for a candidate interested in working on developing a research project which fits the frames of Integrated Agricultural Production Systems, aiming at the animal component or forage species, with emphasis on Sustainable Animal Production.

The Instituto de Zootecnia (IZ) belongs to the State Department of Agriculture and Food Supply (SAA) of the State of Sao Paulo and interacts through the São Paulo Agency of Agribusiness and Technology (APTA) through its various research institutes and centers in different regions of Sao Paulo State granting them respective demands. The mission of IZ is to develop and transfer technologies and inputs for assessing and enhancing the sustainability of animal production systems, seeking technological innovations to promote the productivity, quality and diversity of production. The Research Centers of IZ are provided with excellent infrastructure for the development of researches in partnership with public and private institutions, as well as providing services and training of human resources.

The 24-month grant will be funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and linked to the Institutional Research Development Plan (PDIP - Process: 2017 / 50339-5). The selected candidate will receive a post-doctoral scholarship from FAPESP in the amount of R$ 7,174.80 per month and free of income taxes. 
 

1. Position summary and required experience

1.1. Position summary and expected research focus:

The candidate must have experience in the participation of projects that evaluate aspects contained in the integrated systems of animal production for the production of food of animal and vegetal origin, in the same area and in a single agricultural year, being the focus of evaluation: the establishment of these systems, the plant and / or animal productivity, animal welfare in the areas of integration, understanding of greenhouse gas mitigation processes (mainly in relation to enteric methane emission), and possible economic advantages, based on income diversification and the lower risk of fluctuations of the market. 
 

1.2. Profile and required skills

• Be Brazilian or have a stay visa in the country;
• To keep up with the electoral obligations;
• Have a curriculum vitae that demonstrates capacity to act in the development of the project;
• Have completed graduation in the areas of zootechnics, veterinary, agronomy or agronomic engineering;
• Master's and / or PhD in related areas of Animal Production and / or Sciences;
• Have participated in research projects evaluating aspects of integrated agricultural production system, focusing on animal production;
• Check publications on themes related to integrated animal production systems;
• To verify publications of articles in magazines of impact, like first author;
• To verify publication of articles, in the last 5 years, in international journals of high impact;
• Not be the beneficiary of any other scholarship of any kind;
• Have no employment relationship;
• Not be retired or in a similar situation;
• Have obtained a doctorate for a maximum of ten (10) years. In the case of a diploma obtained in a foreign institution, it must have the recognition of validation, according to legal provisions.
