Job Details

The post holder will be responsible for the overall management of Placement Administration for Social Work BA and MA students in the School of Social Work. All MA and BA Social Work students require two placements to be organised plus any for returning students, such as those who have been on Leave of Absence.
The post holder is responsible for managing all aspects of Placement Administration and is required to develop an in-depth knowledge of all legislation relating to placement matters and have sufficient experience and knowledge of University policies and procedures relating to placements to advise and guide both academic and support staff colleagues and students, as required. The post holder will be responsible for handling confidential information and data with great tact and diplomacy and will manage the placement database. He/she will be responsible for producing management information for Health Professions Council quality assurance reports and preparing all purchase orders and paying all invoices relating to placements.

 

Person Specification

Essential

• Significant experience ofadministeringprofessionalprogrammesinanHE setting.

• Experience of working with University Financial systems.

• Ability to create, maintain and manipulate complex spreadsheets and databases and to understand and interpret the information contained in them.

• Experience of working effectively with students and a wide variety of external agency and University colleagues.

• Ability to organise, prioritise and to absorb detailed information accurately and quickly whilst working to tight deadlines.

• The post holder will be expected to develop specialist expertise in professional requirements for the Social Work programmes in order to provide advice and guidance to students on behalf of the Head of Qualifying Practice Learning and the Director of Social Work

• An ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential personal student information with complete discretion.

• An ability to be deal with difficult situations and people, sensitively and also assertively.

• Good sense of initiative and attention to detail with a methodical approach, ability to prioritise workload and to meet deadlines, with little supervision.

• Ability to make decisions, using own discretion and judgement.

• Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organisational, flexibility and time management skills.

• Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

Desirable

• Previous experience of dealing with the highly sensitive and confidential issues arising from practice learning is preferred.
