The project, funded by São Paulo Research Foundation-FAPESP, has a multidisciplinary group team that includes Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares (IPEN) – www.ipen.br – researchers, whose lines of research are focused on the study and development of new radiopharmaceuticals and radioactive sources, applied specifically in the medical field.

The objective of this project is to develop and manufacture a nano-scale radioactive source for application in brachytherapy. The researchers involved in the project work in several fields of knowledge and apply different methodologies in their investigations.

The postdoctoral fellow (PD) should conduct theoretical and practical research in the program, as well as other regular activities, such as the presentation of seminars, preparation of papers and dissemination of the research results. As a result of his postdoctoral research, he should also produce articles to be submitted in journals of high academic impact, as well as presenting them in an official seminar.

The PD grant aims to develop specific project in the theme: Development of radioactive nanoparticle for application in the area of nanobrachytherapy. The general objective of this sub-project, coordinated by Dr. Maria Elisa Chuery Martins Rostelato is, by uniting the advantages of brachytherapy with those of nanotechnology, to develop, characterize and validate a new radioactive source for cancer treatment.
