Specialist, GI & Surgery

GI & Surgery Service Line manages patients with a variety of acute and chronic surgical and medical conditions related to General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Gastroenterology. Comprehensive inpatient and outpatient facilities including general and intensive care are available for surgical and gastrointestinal patients. Moreover, our Endoscopy suite provides diagnostic / therapeutic scopic procedures to both ambulatory and inpatients.

Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Specialist, GI & Surgery.

 

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for providing guidance, assisting the health care team in maintaining optimum processes of nursing care. You will report to the Nurse Manager and will be responsible for:

• Teaching activities related to clinical care, staff development, and providing assistance in patient care management on daily basis
• Collaborating with Nurse Instructor and clinicians in providing educational opportunities to the nursing staff
• Conducting clinical reviews and liaise with nursing regulatory body Nursing Education Services at Aga Khan University Hospital and School of Nursing and Midwifery
• Identifying and develop Nurse Instructor, Clinical Nurse Coordinator, and head nurse to assume future leadership roles and responsibilities
• Formulating courses pertaining to SL specialty to facilitate staff development and competence
• Setting annual goals and objectives related to staff development of assigned areas and design strategies for nurturing of first lines Nurse Instructors in units
• Participating in establishing standards of care with unit staff and monitor delivery of care according to the set standards such as patient safety, Quality of care, Health Care Associated Infection, policies, procedures, protocols, and patient centered care.   

 

Requirements

You should have:

• A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited school, MScN or equivalent degree would be preferred  
• 6-8 years of clinical experience
• Good exposure in teaching/learning, developing educational plans, conducting independent courses as well as  implementation of in-service sessions certification in specialty-based competencies BLS, ACLS, ECG interpretation, Hemodynamic monitoring, ventilation management etc. Valid license from Pakistan Nursing Council
• Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• Able to work on weekend and in evening shifts.
