Instrumentation Design Engineer (Specialist Technician)

Job Details

The appointee will be part of an interdisciplinary team lead by Prof Themis Prodromakis and will be based at Southampton’s Zepler Institute. This post entails building hardware and/or software platforms for controlling Resistive Random Access Memory cells. The ideal candidate should have experience in embedded systems and mixed-signal design. The technology will be developed collaboratively with ArC Instruments Ltd and EPSRC funded researchers at the University of Southampton. 

The appointee will join a highly successful and visible group of researchers in related projects, funded by both EPSRC, EU and charitable Foundations, and will be required to coordinate activities among academic and industrial partners.

Skill level equivalent to achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ4 or basic professional qualification and have experience the following areas:

  1. Mixed mode circuit design
  2. Embedded electronics design and testing
  3. Integrated Circuits design and testing
  4. Sensors Instrumentation
  5. Project management and staff development

 

Skills in one or more of the following areas are desirable:

  • CAD tools (embedded or integrated circuits) 
  • Skills in developing automated experimental characterization set-ups (e.g. Labview or other Test and Measurement automation software) 
  • Circuit simulation and prototyping
  • ReRAM instrumentation

 

There will be some travel involved both within the United Kingdom and abroad to conduct research, visit collaborators, and attend conferences.
