In this role you will be expected to:
  • Provide support for students attending Drop-In as well as through groups, workshops, and appointments face-to-face, on the telephone and via Skype
  • Offer timely advice, information and direct support to students who are experiencing crisis situations
  • Quickly assess needs to provide appropriate support, enable required onward referrals, and make recommendations for ongoing support
  • Risk assess for people with mental health issues as well as be able to advise students and staff in both one-to-one and group settings
  • Contribute to University wide projects using specialist knowledge making a particular contribution in your specialist area
  • Support and develop University staff by providing advice, guidance, and training
  • Manage a fluctuating, and often demanding, workload
  • Work independently as well as part of a team

 

Candidates must have a relevant degree and/or hold a relevant specialist qualification.

Our day to day working is based within a multidisciplinary open plan office. Being able to work flexibly is a requirement of this role; you will be part of a rota that operates from 8am –6pm across weekdays and occasional weekend working is required for Open Days, Arrivals weekend, and Enabling Service Transition Days.

The salary for this post starts from £29,799. Please note that we recruit at the bottom of the scale. Further benefits include the opportunity to join the University’s pension scheme, 30 days annual leave, and access to a number of University employer discount schemes.

This position is part-time 0.6FTE (21 hours per week, flexible) and fixed-term for 1 year. Interviews will be held on the 6th of August 2018.
