The School of Software is seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Quantum Machine Learning.
You will create a strong focus on applications and foundations of quantum machine learning. This includes the development of both large and small scale quantum algorithms and protocols for implementation on realistic quantum computing hardware models. The broader quantum technology community has expanded significantly in the past 24 months, with four major technology corporations now actively working in building quantum technology. It is expected that you will make UTS a major source of skilled quantum engineers and software developers to quantum hardware and software companies globally.

The School of Software is internationally recognised for its research, and as one of Australia’s most industry-focused teaching and learning program providers in the field of Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems. The School is placed within the top 11 universities worldwide of Computer Science and Information Technology.

As a Lecturer with the School of Software, you will be expected to:

  • Generate and sustain high quality research publication outputs (in particular in top Journals/Conferences in the area of quantum machine learning 
  • Attract research funding in the area of quantum machine learning
  • Build international collaborations and networking with world-renowned experts.
  • Deliver related subjects in the area of quantum machine learning in the Faculty.
  • Assist in curriculum development and contribute to the overall development of teaching and learning in the School of Software with an emphasis on emerging topics of international and national professional interest through participation in subject and course reviews.
  • Participate in relevant external, University, Faculty, School, and Centre’s committees, meetings and activities.
  • Apply for an external research grants and fellowships, and/or actively seek other appropriate funds from an externally funded agency or source.

 

As the successful candidate you will have:

  • A PhD Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a very closely related field.
  • Demonstrated stellar track record in the area of quantum machine learning through high quality research publications (in top Journals/conferences in the related areas).
  • A willingness to effectively and harmoniously engage research and teaching in Information Technology/ quantum machine learning.
  • Comprehensive and solid knowledge quantum machine learning
  • High quality publication records in quantum software. First authored publications are strong evidence.
  • Experience in working productively on industry projects or international projects.
  • The ability to mentor and co-supervise undergraduate, honours, Masters or high degree research (HDR) students.
  • The ability to develop competitive grant proposals or industry links and projects.

 

Remuneration & Benefits
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.
