With arts, culture and creativity at the heart of the University of Southampton, the strategy outlines the University’s pledge to continue to contribute to Southampton’s growing cultural reputation, and to “animate the city” through its inspiring arts and culture programme.

The University of Southampton is committed to providing inspiring arts and culture for everyone. It has a pioneering history of cultural patronage through the arts, theatre and music, playing host to some of the city’s most respected and renowned venues that are also Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations. The University is also home to a research-active Arts and Humanities Faculty encompassing Winchester School of Art, as well as a successful and well-connected multidisciplinary Public Engagement with Research Unit, and over 40 performing arts student societies.

The Coordinator (Arts and Culture) is a key member of the University’s Arts Team, which includes John Hansard Gallery and Turner Sims, and supports engagement with the University’s Arts Strategy Group, faculties, arts venues, Student Union, external stakeholders and collaborators to coordinate and deliver a wide variety of activity for and with students, staff and the wider community.

This includes coordinating internal and external communications campaigns, supervising students on the Excel Arts Ambassador internship programme to realise their full potential and working with internal and external partners in realising the implementation and development of the University’s Arts and Culture Strategy.

This is a part time permanent role, 14.5 hours per week which are flexible. The working pattern can be discussed at interview stage.
