    The Faculty of the Professions is one of five faculties at the University of Adelaide. It is comprised of the prestigious Adelaide Law School, the School of Architecture and Built Environment, the Adelaide Business School, the School of Economics, the Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation and Innovation Centre, Institute for International Trade, Centre for Global Food and Resources and the Future of Employment and Skills Research Centre.     Working under broad direction the Research & Business Development Manager is a key contributor to the Faculty Leadership Team and works in close collaboration with other Faculty and University functions. The role is responsible for providing a comprehensive support service that enables high quality research and research training to be undertaken. The Research & Business Development Manager fosters strong relationships with all stakeholders to identify mutually beneficial opportunities to both attract external research funding and increase high quality and high impact research outputs. The position provides input into the Faculty’s strategic direction and planning with particular responsibility for supporting Faculty research activity. This role will provide input into the Faculty’s strategic direction and planning with particular responsibility to support Faculty’s research activity. The Research & Business Development Manager will lead a small research support team.

    Salary: (HEO10) $122,720 - $130,819 per annum.

    Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply.

    Term of position: This continuing position is available immediately.

     

    Position requirements:

    To be successful you should have:

    Essential:

    1. Extensive and expert knowledge and experience in the tertiary research environment, particularly in winning and management of research grant funding.
    2. A proven track record in business development leading to contracts and continuing opportunities.
    3. Significant experience in successfully sourcing national and international funding opportunities including competitive schemes.
    4. Highly developed stakeholder relationship management abilities including success in working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, influencing with tact and fostering credibility at all levels.
    5. Provide business negotiation skills in government and/or industry and senior levels and on the international platform.
    6. Proven track record in leading successful teams.
    7. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with University leaders, research academics and representatives of government, business and industry.
    8. Excellent written communication skills, including report, responding to tenders, grant applications and proven ability in developing plans aligned to strategy.
    9. Experience reviewing and preparing collaborative research proposals and agreements for contract research and consulting projects, and proposals for commissioned research/tenders.
    10. Demonstrated commitment to a service culture.

     

    Desirable:

    1. Knowledge of research administration systems.
