We are looking for a number of outstanding candidates to play a key role in the research and teaching relevant to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Biomedical Engineering, and these continuing positions will initiate the first phase of expansion of this new School.

Joining the School of Biomedical Engineering, your research will contribute to advancing understanding in the following research areas within the School: 3D printing or bioprinting related to tissue engineering and/or medical device design; medical technologies such as genomics; single cell sequencing; bioinformatics; machine learning and imaging related to ageing research to address diseases in the ageing population including musculoskeletal disorders, cancer, cardiovascular and neural degeneration. You will also have the experience and capability to deliver outstanding innovative teaching in these and other areas of biomedical engineering, with the vision and drive to tackle new challenges.

Teaching duties will be in areas relevant to our undergraduate and postgraduate programs in biomedical engineering. You will also contribute to enhancing the international research and teaching reputation of the School of Biomedical Engineering.

The School of Biomedical Engineering is seeking to build its team with expertise in innovative medical technologies related to ageing research.

As a member of FEIT, you will be accountable for supporting UTS to achieve its objectives of being a world-leading university of technology and an inspiring place to work.

 

About the Role
Reporting to the Head of School, you will work with the Deputy Head of School (Teaching and Learning) to develop and align subject content and delivery to the UTS Model of Learning and ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders. You will also work with the Deputy Head of School (Research) to align your research with the strategy of the School and Faculty. In addition, you will work closely with other units within the University such as the Graduate Research School and the Research and Innovation Office and establish collaborations with staff from a number of faculties.

Skills and Experience:

  • A PhD in a cognate discipline relevant to the School
  • A strong scholarly track record in research.
  • Demonstrated capacity to obtain research grants and other support for research projects and ability to forge links with industry and other key stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience and ability to teach and coordinate subjects and develop curriculum within the Biomedical Engineering Program
  • Demonstrated ability to implement teaching methods that align with the UTS Model of Learning and Learning.Futures.
  • Recent industry experience in biomedical engineering will be highly regarded.

 

For appointment at Lecturer level, you must be able to demonstrate experience of teaching to undergraduate/postgraduate students and supervising undergraduate/masters level student projects in Biomedical Engineering-related disciplines and a developing track record of high quality publications in one or more of the research areas listed above, along with the demonstrated capacity to obtain research funding or other support for research.

For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, you must be able to demonstrate a track record of successful and substantive grant applications, a strong track record of high quality publications in one or more of the research areas listed above, the capacity to deliver an outstanding student experience and an ability to undertake successful academic leadership.
