Director of the Inria Nancy - Grand Est Research Centre

Inria, the French National Institute, is hiring the director of its Nancy - Grand Est research centre.

Nancy Grand Est research centre purpose is to promote research in IT, applied mathematics, control theory, and a range of multi-disciplinary themes located at the intersection of ICT and other branches of science, in particular the life sciences, physics, humanities and social sciences. It has 21 project-teams and 450 people (about 45% of the people are non permanent, mainly PhD, postdoc, R&D engineers).

The centre conducts most of its scientific activities in partnership with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the University of Lorraine and the University of Strasbourg. We also maintain close ties with research institutes and universities from the wider region, notably in Saarbrücken and Luxembourg : 40% of the researchers are on the staffs of ours partners.

The project-teams are located in three sites: the main building in Villers-lès-Nancy, the IECL (Institut Élie Cartan de Lorraine) and Strasbourg.

Thanks to its industrial partnerships with local businesses, its creation of start-up companies and the synergies that it has built with regional actors in innovation, the centre plays a key role in the economic development and in its international influence.

Assignment

The centre director is responsible, within guaranteeing the coherence of Inria's overall action plan, for implementing, in the surrounding environment of the centre, Inria's science policy and strategic directions, including R&D, transfer, European and international partnerships, and the attractiveness

Main activities include :

• The coordination of the definition of the centre's scientific strategy and the elaboration of priorities;
• The definition of the policy of the research centre in terms of partnerships;
• An active involvement in Inria's management, in particular through its executive committee;
• The operational management of the research centre in all its dimensions.
