School of Veterinary Science

The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane. 

 

The role

The Emergency and Critical Care team is seeking a Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Clinician to cover a 12 month parental leave position. The ECC team has 3 full-time rotating emergency clinicians and numerous casual staff to cover a 24-hour roster. The ECC service is accredited by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care and currently supervises one resident. Therefore, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Science (Dip ACVECC) is desired, however ECC clinicians that have completed an ACVECC/ECVECC accredited residency program in emergency and critical care are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be involved in the supervision of the critical care team and will be involved in clinical teaching and instruction of undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary science and veterinary technology students as well as clinical training of interns and residents.

 

The person

Applicants must have a degree in Veterinary Science or equivalent registrable in Queensland together with demonstrated previous experience in an Emergency and Critical Care veterinary clinic environment. For appointment at Hew 9, applicants must have recognised track-record of performing at an advanced clinical level (for example, a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Emergency and Critical Care, or completion of a residency training program.

 

Remuneration

This is a fixed term position of up to 12 months and is advertised at two levels; Hew 8 and Hew 9.

  • The remuneration package for Hew 8 will be in the range $92,811 - $104,214 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5%
  • The remuneration package for Hew 9 will be in the range $ 108,810  - $115,144 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5%
