Job Details
Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge as part of an international academic / industry collaboration?
Do you want to create building materials that will change our lives?
As part of an Impact Acceleration project to develop sustainable organically bound roofing tiles for Africa, led by Professor John Forth, you will progress the development of tile units from laboratory scale to commercial ready-to-use products for sustainable housing in Africa. The research is collaborative with a leading industrial company based in the West Midlands. This company has established routes into the African market. The geometry and structure of the tile to be developed is based around the Parry tile; the project will, however, look to improve on this shape and style.Holding a PhD in civil engineering or materials, you will have a strong background in industry and a significant understanding of the chemical mechanisms that exist when forming construction material matrixes using vegetable oil or its derivatives. You will have a creative, enthusiastic approach to research and a flair for working in collaboration with external project partners.
